WorkCare Inc, a US-based occupational health company, has acquired Corporate Health Resources Inc (CHR), a nationwide occupational health examiner network service provider, the companies announce today.

CHR will operate as a WorkCare company conducting business as usual as Corporate Health Resources, with the same team and existing service delivery model. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

WorkCare supports employers with an integrated suite of solutions designed to protect and promote employee health and safety while meeting business objectives. CHR’s primary business is the provision of occupational health and medical surveillance exams via a provider network that spans the U.S. and extends to other countries.

“CHR is a natural fit for us,” said William E. Nixon, WorkCare’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “With the acquisition, we can further expand WorkCare’s medical provider network of 5,700-plus qualified providers, mutually nurture our client relationships, and access resources and expertise on both teams while allowing CHR to continue to operate with a considerable degree of autonomy.”

Peter P. Greaney, MD, WorkCare’s founder, Executive Chairman and Chief Medical Officer, and CHR’s founder and President Karen Cohen, RHIA, say they have known and respected each other for many years.

“The size, strength and enhanced offerings of WorkCare provide a bright future for CHR, particularly in the areas of information technology and human resources,” Cohen said. “Finding a future home for CHR and our employees with a like-minded, quality-driven organization made the decision to sell to WorkCare an easy one.”

“I’ve long admired Karen Cohen’s professionalism and CHR’s firm commitment to customer service,” said Dr. Greaney. “I’m happy that she, and her employees, are now part of the WorkCare family so we can join forces to achieve our mutual goals.”
