SeamlessMD, Toronto, introduces myHip&Knee, a free smartphone/tablet app for hip and knee joint-replacement patients.

The app was developed by SeamlessMD in partnership with Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centre, part of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Center, also based in Toronto.

According to a news story that appears in MedCityNews, the app sends reminders to patients prior to surgery, such as daily check-ins to assess symptoms, pain levels, and range of motion in the joint to be operated on. Postsurgery, the app delivers educational material, such as exercise videos, to help aid recovery.

“The aim is that myHip&Knee will improve patient recovery by encouraging patients to complete exercises, checking in on pain levels and mobility, and advising patients when to seek more help,” says orthopedic surgeon Jeffrey Gollish, BSc, MD, FRCSC, medical director of the Holland Centre, in the news story.
