Pediatric skilled nursing, therapy, and developmental and enteral services provider Epic Health Services Inc announces the acquisition of Baltimore-based Care Resources.

Care Resources provides pediatric therapy and early intervention services for children with special needs, staffing of special needs teachers to schools, and continuing education courses for healthcare professionals.

Once the acquisition is finalized, Care Resources will be rebranded to Epic Developmental Services (EDS), a division of Epic Health Services, and its patient base will increase from Maryland to five additional states: New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Texas, and Virginia. Epic currently operates in 17 states, according to a media release from Epic Health Services Inc.

“We’re looking forward to working with the seasoned educational consultants and therapists that have made Care Resources such a respected company,” says Kathleen Bailey Stengel, vice president of EDS, in the release. “Moving forward over time, we plan to expand the services offered by EDS into the other 11 states where Epic provides pediatric and adult home health services.”

“Both Epic and Care Resources emphasize the values of high-quality services and evidence-based practices,” states Suzanne Wayson, executive director of Care Resources, per the release. “Now, as a part of Epic, we’ll be able to better serve those around the country who require effective special education services.”
