As part of a 3-year partnership, Biofreeze will assume the role of Title Sponsor of both The San Francisco Marathon and The Berkeley Half Marathon. Biofreeze will also play a leading role in the year-round RUN365 training and club program.

The newly named Biofreeze San Francisco Marathon is scheduled for Sunday, July 29.

“Biofreeze is the fast-acting secret weapon runners turn to when they need to overcome sore muscles and stiffness,” says Michael McGoohan, chief marketing officer of Performance Health, makers of Biofreeze, in a media release.

“We’re delighted that we can now call The San Francisco Marathon The Biofreeze San Francisco Marathon and join the 27,500 race participants in running their best race,” he adds.

This year’s race will feature the new Biofreeze interactive cheer boards, which will include personalized messages for runners that can be made on social media and tagged with the bib number of a specific runner. RFID technology will trigger the message through a timing chip given to each runner, enabling the runner to see the message as he or she passes by the digital board.

Biofreeze products will also be available on the course to provide runners fast-acting relief, according to the release.

“We are excited to welcome Biofreeze as our title sponsor in presenting The San Francisco Marathon,” comments Cynthia Myers, vice president of marketing for The San Francisco Marathon and RUN365 properties.

“Biofreeze is bringing new energy to the race at a time when marathon running continues to grow in popularity around the world,” she adds.

The Biofreeze San Francisco Marathon comprises five races in 1 day: the full marathon, two half marathons, an ultramarathon, and a 5K.

Registration is open, and runners can sign up online, per the release.
