USA Cheer, the US governing body for sport cheering and the sport of STUNT and TeachAids, a nonprofit social enterprise behind the CrashCourse concussion education technology, announce a new partnership.

They join other sports governing bodies such as USA FootballUSA Artistic SwimmingUSA Field Hockey, and US Speedskating to provide formal Certification for completion of the CrashCourse education programming.

TeachAids creates breakthrough technology to solve persistent problems in health education around the world. Their products are designed with input from a team of world-class academics, researchers, doctors, and athletes associated with leading organizations and institutions such as Stanford University, Harvard University and beyond.

TeachAids has developed “CrashCourse,” a suite of interactive products focused on the prevention and treatment of concussions and related mental health issues. This education has been designed to teach athletes, parents, and coaches about concussions. CrashCourse products include scientific knowledge to help dispel myths and misconceptions about the concussion recovery process. They also serve as resources for athletic trainers, rehab specialists and physicians.

“Athlete safety is central to everything we do and it’s critical that participants in our sport and their parents and coaches understand what a concussion can look like and how to deal with it. We’re thrilled to partner with TeachAids to promote effective concussion education for our members and athletes of all ages.”

— USA Cheer Executive Director Lauri Harris

The TeachAids partnership builds on USA Cheer’s longstanding commitment to athlete safety, with a focus on the importance of strength and conditioning, progression in training, and following safety guidelines. USA Cheer offers courses for coaches on safety regulations and has developed safety rules tailored to each age group and skill level.

The CrashCourse curriculum will now be instituted for free, with certification, throughout USA Cheer’s programs nationwide.

“As an athlete and a coach, having access to a resource like CrashCourse is so important. It’s so great that USA Cheer and TeachAids have partnered to provide this training. It’s going to make a real difference for our entire cheer community and ensure we’re able to continue to provide a safe and healthy environment to train and compete.”

— Kaitlynn Volmer, US National Team Athlete, OSU Athlete and Stillwater High Coach

“Central to our mission at USA Cheer is to promote safety and safety education for cheer in the United States. Understanding the signs and symptoms of a concussion, and how to respond if a concussion has been sustained, is critically important for participants at every level. The approach that TeachAids has taken speaks directly to athletes, and we’re really pleased to be able to offer the CrashCourse content to our members.”

—  USA Cheer Director of Education and Programs Jim Lord
