Fyzical Therapy and Balance Centers, a fast-growing physical therapy franchise with 500 open centers across 44 states, is celebrating a decade of franchising. Fyzical also marks the opening of its 500th clinic in early 2023. The brand opened 86 new clinics and signed 90 new franchise deals in 2022, with unit-level revenues up 18% year-over-year, serving thousands more patients.
“After 10 years of franchising, we’ve certainly learned a lot along the way,” says Brian Belmont, CEO of Fyzical. “As Fyzical has grown, we have continued to reinvest in the business through technology and business intelligence that has allowed us to provide business support and revenue cycle management support to help scale the brand while continuously focusing on patient care and consumer wellness.”
This robust support is one of the critical factors in franchisees’ success with the brand. “Since joining Fyzical over seven years ago, we have grown 700%,” says Jerry Yarborough, owner of three Fyzical locations in Ruston and Jonesboro, La, and El Dorado, Ark. “With all that’s in the works right now, we expect to double that next year. Being a part of Fyzical has been a huge part of our success — the Fyzical family is priceless.”
In early January, Franchise Business Review’s 2023 Top 50 Enterprise list ranked Fyzical at number 21 across its 400+ unit classification, also securing a top placement in its category of Health and Personal Services. Franchise Business Review ranks franchisors based on franchisee satisfaction, evaluated by available training and support as well as a direct survey of franchisees.
As Fyzical continues to grow, Belmont says there is more patient access than ever. He says Fyzical provides a comprehensive, one-on-one approach to patient care, delivering personalized wellness and unmatched quality outcomes.
“What we’ve done is provide a service that’s never been offered to the market at scale,” he explains. “We’ve revolutionized it from a franchise perspective. We’re the only concept in outpatient physical therapy doing what we do.”
In 2021, the US occupational and physical therapy market was valued at nearly $48 billion and is expected to reach $72.7 billion by 2029. Fyzical offers traditional physical therapy services, specializing in orthopedics, sports medicine, neurological rehabilitation, manual therapy, and pelvic health. The brand differentiates itself through Fyzical’s Balance Paradigm and Sensory Mismatch programs. These proprietary offerings have helped transform the treatment of balance patients. Falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal injuries among older adults, and more than 10 million people suffer from dizziness each year. Fyzical continues to help patients recover from injury and get back to doing what they love.
“We will continue to provide the best care in an integrated way in the US and, eventually, internationally,” Belmont adds. “We’ve accomplished a lot in the first 10 years of franchising, and we’re excited to see what the next 10 years will bring. Every day we strive for success for our owners, investors, and most importantly, successful outcomes for our patients.”
