Alvernia University, a Pennsylvania-based Franciscan university, is introducing a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, the university’s newest program. The university will hold an information session on March 20 for those interested in the academic program, and interested students are invited to learn more about the program and admissions process with program director Christopher Wise, PT, DPT, OCS, FAAOMPT, MTC, ATC. Wise will present on the program mission, curriculum, and accreditation status, among other topics, as indicated on the university news release.

The information session will also include information related to housing, financial aid, and other administrative issues. According to the Alvernia University news release, students will engage in four part-time and four full-time clinical education experiences throughout the curriculum, which totals 39 weeks of clinical education. Web-assisted resources will be utilized throughout each clinical internship to facilitate self-reflection and connect clinical practice with previously learned classroom knowledge.

Wise states, “Alvernia University is pleased to announce the development of its new Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, which will be accepting its first class in the fall of 2015 (pending achievement of candidacy).” Wise adds, “We are excited to share our mission and vision for the development of this exciting and innovative new program that features an evidence-based, hands-on curriculum and invite any high school or college student who is considering physical therapy as a career to attend this important event.”
