Beginning in the spring of 2014, AlterG, Fremont, Calif, launched a nationwide online referral program designed to match patients searching the AlterG website for units, to facilities near them that have the Anti-Gravity Treadmill and AlterG Bionic Legs. Consumers can also use the AlterG.com web portal to purchase time on the AlterG at that specific facility, according to a company news release.

Gabriel Griego, AlterG vice president of Marketing, explains in the release, “We introduced the program at the [2014] Combined Sections Meeting of the American Physical Therapy Association, and it was met with great enthusiasm. It fulfills both an overwhelming consumer need, as well as business solution to our many partners by opening up access and treatment to those in need.”

Griego states that there are 30 to 50 million individuals in the US with mobility impairments, many of whom are living with pain and compromised mobility, without realizing they can receive treatment at their local physical therapy clinic or wellness facility.

“Ultimately, we’re seeking to improve their health and happiness. The numbers are somewhat surprising: for every clinic with an Anti-Gravity Treadmill, more than 30 patients are searching for local rehab and wellness facilities,” Griego says.

The release reports that there are more than 1,000 facilities in the US with Anti-Gravity Treadmills, with most being accessible by the public. The release adds that since the introduction of the referral program, more than 300 facilities that feature an AlterG have simplified the process of buying time online for consumers.
