OPTPincontinence
OPTP announces the publication of Understanding and Treating Incontinence. Written by physical therapist and pelvic health specialist Sarah Haag, PT, DPT, the book brings to light important information to help incontinence sufferers understand what’s happening in their bodies and what to do about it.

In the first two sections, readers learn how common incontinence really is and the negative effects it can have on a person’s life. Readers are then made comfortable with the anatomy and physiology of the bladder and surrounding area, both female and male, for a clear understanding of normal bladder functioning. They will then learn the common causes, risk factors, and the different types of incontinence that people experience.

Most importantly, the last two sections of the book provide effective strategies for treatment. Readers will discover how they can regain control using a wide variety of treatment options, including steps they can take at home. For anyone experiencing incontinence, this essential book will help them understand what’s happening, why it’s happening, and what they can do about it.

Sarah Haag, PT, DPT, is a physical therapist, board certified clinical specialist in women’s health, and co-owner of Entropy Physiotherapy & Wellness in Chicago.
