DJO Global, based in Austin, Tex, launches the EMPOWR 3D Knee, which is designed with natural motion technology that recreates natural knee motion.
Scott Banks, PhD, co-designer of the 3D Knee, notes in a media release from DJO Global that the EMPOWR 3D Knee retains the articular surface design of the 3D Knee, and also provides the same clinical results whether or not the posterior cruciate ligament is retained.
“The new EMPOWR 3D Knee design retains all these functional benefits in a system that is designed to optimally fit patients’ anatomy while giving surgeons more intraoperative flexibility and efficiency,” says Banks, also a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at the University of Florida.
The EMPOWR 3D Knee, which will be launched under DJO Global’s brand DJO Surgical, is also designed with e+ polyethylene, a knee-specific formula blended with vitamin E to reduce long-term wear.
