Starting with spring semester in January 2021, Marymount University will offer an online transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy (tDPT) degree and an online transitional Doctor of Occupational Therapy (tOTD) degree, both of which are powered by Rehab Essentials.
The transitional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree will be offered to US licensed physical therapists who hold a bachelor- or master-level degree in physical therapy and reside in a state along the Atlantic coast or Pennsylvania. The program is 24-30 credit hours and can be completed in as little as 24 months. Similarly, the transitional Doctor of Occupational Therapy degree will be offered starting Spring 2021, with classes starting on January 11, 2021. The online tOTD program will be open to all occupational therapists who are licensed in the US and hold a master-level degree in occupational therapy. The program is 30 credit hours and can be completed in 20 months. Applications are being currently being accepted, a media release from Rehab Essentials Inc explains.
Online and Budget-Friendly
Both the tDPT and tOTD are designed with working rehabilitation therapists in mind. As an online distance learning program, working professionals will have the opportunity to balance work, life and school while earning a doctorate degree, and all with a budget-friendly tuition, the release notes.
The contemporary online format featuring evidence-based programs taught at Marymount University will allow students to engage with the curriculum from virtually anywhere, on their schedule, and at their pace. Students will have access to a diverse online community as well as faculty members who are nationally recognized subject matter experts. Both degree programs are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
“We are looking forward to our inaugural tDPT and tOTD cohorts with Marymount University in Spring 2021. The opportunity to bring new physical therapy and occupational therapy rehabilitation professionals along the Atlantic Coast into our program with College of Health and Education at Marymount University will continue to enhance our already diverse student base.”
— Jonathan Scheeler, chief program officer at Rehab Essentials and coordinator for the tDPT and tOTD programs at Marymount University
“We are very excited to offer the opportunity for occupational and physical therapists to earn their transitional clinical doctorate degree. We have partnered with Rehab Essentials due to the experience and expertise of the nationally recognized faculty that they have providing the coursework, and the robust educational methods they use in the development of the coursework. Plus, the program flexibility allows the working professional to obtain their degree.”
— Dr Ken Harwood, dean of the College of Health and Education
“The tDPT and tOTD degrees are a welcome expansion of the current rehabilitation programs at Marymount University. The addition of the post professional degrees enable us to optimize our educational contribution to the physical therapy and occupational therapy fields. With these programs we have the opportunity to expand knowledge in the respective fields and elevate the education level with working therapists. We can empower professionals to move their career forward and become better leaders or educators in their field.”
— Skye Donovan, director of the School of Rehabilitation and Health Sciences
“When I started Rehab Essentials 15 years ago, my goal was to improve the standards of the physical therapy profession and to help advance therapists’ careers in a flexible and affordable manner. I wanted to provide an online, affordable, and more flexible path to an accredited clinical doctorate for practicing physical therapists. Marymount University shares in this vision, and our partnership to offer both the evidence-based tDPT and tOTD programs reflects that.”
— Dr Steve Tepper, founder and president of Rehab Essentials
