Every new product tells a story of the necessity that gave rise to its invention, and the Theragun is no different. It was designed by chiropractor Dr Jason Wersland (aka Dr Jason) as a rehabilitation aid to provide what he calls percussive therapy after he experienced a herniated disc and neck pain as the result of a motorcycle accident.

To create the makeshift device, Dr Jason grabbed a power tool from his shed and modified it with a cushioned head that would be safe to use on the human body. After using it for a few days, he was able to loosen the muscles that caused the tension on the spine and ultimately help treat his herniated disc and the resulting numbness and pain.

He later used the device on one of his patients who had similar symptoms as his own. When he saw that the device worked like a charm, he knew he was on to something.

After further design changes and prototypes, the Theragun was born. The Theragun is now on its 7th generation, the G3PRO, with two additional models, the G3 and liv.
