Kuwait will host the ninth Pan-Arab Congress in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2015 in cooperation with the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) and the European Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ESPRM). A news report from the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) indicates that the announcement was made during Kuwait’s participation in the eighth Pan Arab Congress presently held in Jordan under the theme “Rehabilitation Without Barriers.”

Secretary of Kuwait Physical Therapy Association (KPTA) Salem Al-Kandari stated that Kuwait is contributing three research barriers at this event, according to the KUNA news report. Al-Kandari explains that one of the research papers is related to using botulinum toxin to treat spastic paralysis caused by strokes, and studying patients’ recovery process and their ability to walk again. Al-Kandari is presenting one of the research papers, along with others by head of the physical therapy department at Amiri Hospital.

The three-day conference in Jordan began Tuesday, May 12, with the participation of doctors from 23 Arab and international countries. The doctors will discuss 64 scientific research topics and will hold 20 sub-meetings in the event. The KUNA news report notes that the congress is an opportunity to exchange experience in the field with other healthcare professionals as well as invite participants to attend the upcoming conference in Kuwait, which will be attended by international experts, according to Al-Kandari.
