During 2016 to 2018, there were 181,227 traumatic brain injury (TBI)-related deaths in the United States, representing 17.3 per 100,000 population per year, according to research published in the Oct. 15 issue of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report.
Jill Daugherty, Ph.D., from the CDC in Atlanta, and colleagues estimated the numbers and rates of TBI-related deaths and leading causes of TBI using the National Vital Statistics System mortality data for 2016 to 2018.
