People with diabetes are already in a high-risk group among COVID-19 patients but a report that finds 40% of COVID-19 fatalities are people who also had diabetes opens the door for deeper scrutiny into a relationship that appears to be dangerously suspicious.
The connection is so disturbing that more than 300 physicians have applied to share cases for review, and the gravity of any connection between the two conditions is summed succinctly by an official at the American Diabetes Foundation.
