The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has launched Neurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation, a new online open access medical journal designed to provide healthcare professionals with peer-reviewed articles, editorials and reviews to enhance patient care, education, and clinical and translational research. The new medical journal will feature open access reports of original research and in-depth reviews of a variety of topics, including neurodegeneration and neurologic diseases, as indicated on the Newswise news release.

The journal will be an online-only publication, with an iPad app coming soon. Richard M. Ransohoff, MD, a professor of molecular medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine at Case Western University, staff neurologist at the Mellen Center for MS Treatment and Research, and director of the Neuroinflammation Research Center in the Department of Neurosciences of the Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic, is the editor of the new online publication.

Robert A. Gross, MD, PhD, FAAN, editor-in-chief of Neurology, states, “We’re excited to be launching this journal in the area of neuroimmunology and neuroinflammation. As an online-only, open access publication, Neurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation will quickly bring the best papers in this field to neurologists worldwide. Authors, who retain copyright of their articles, can expect fast and thorough peer review equal to that performed for Neurology.”

Neurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation is published by Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, part of Wolters Kluwer Health.

Jayne Marks, vice president of global publishing for Wolters Kluwer Health, says, “We are delighted to partner with the American Academy of Neurology to introduce Neurology: Neuroimmunology & Neuroinflammation to their members and the medical community available online and digitally on the iPad. This is an exciting new model for the AAN and we believe it will be attractive to both readers and authors.”
